Could someone please explain how EntreCard has let this shit happen? I've been reading about a lot of people leaving and had come to the conclusion that I would continue to "use" them for my benefit and not let them rule me by excessive dropping. After seeing this, and knowing I would never get a response from them, I think it just may be time for me to jump ship as well. It's like walking into a billboard advertising natural testosterone. Has anyone else been bombarded like this?
What the Hell???

Happened to a friend of mine. She sent me the screen snapshot and I had to click away quickly because I was at work at the time. Holy crap! I have no faith in Entrecard for anything. I'm leaving them in a couple days because of all the malware that's been cropping up on sites they obviously haven't vetted. I'm out!
But you'll continue to see me at Tribal Blogs. That's where all the fun is anyway.
EC Sucks more every day - I'm one drop away from leaving.
Holy Crap Entrecard!!! I haven't been on Entrecard in like forever, I didn't realize it became an adult site! Whoa!
Thanks for joining us today!!
that's pretty common these days on entrcard. most people just never go to that link and check it. it's useless almost to buy ads because the paid ads supercede your ec paid ads. I still can't figure out what to do. I've kinda put it on the back burner and started concentrating on building linkage and readers. conversion is what's important, from those who visit. entrecard just supplies some occassional visitors. but overall it's wayyyy low on my priority list lately.
I am the friend that Kathy (above) referred to. UGH! I've never seen anything like that. I was planning to leave Entrecard anyway, but this sealed the deal. I don't know what any of those sites are, because I would never click on them. I have a feeling they're probably not adult sites but are just junky ad sites using "provocative" photos to get attention.
So, ladies, my question is...
Does it make a difference if I just don't use the service vs actually deleting my account? Is there harm in staying but not dropping?
I trust ALL of your thoughts.
If I stop using EC I won't delete my blogs or my account. I don't really understand why people feel like they have to make a big deal out of leaving EV - they usually write a long post about it explaining all their reasons for leaving. If you keep your blogs on there I'm sure you'll still get a few visits and if you ever need a surge of traffic or are bored you can do some drops.
What JD said - I think they are just junk blogs using those photos, not "adult" sites. How I figured it out: I look at the drop-in page frequently, to see who I missed dropping on that I haven't bookmarked yet, and about a week or so ago, I saw a bunch of cards that were nothing but text. They looked like spam sites (I didn't click on them). Then a couple of days later, those text cards were replaced by those girls. Then the next day, they were all gone completely, so somebody must have complained, or EC finally noticed or something.
On the other hand, I think it would be a nice idea if everyone replaced their EC cards with cute kitty faces, like mine! Oh, and blog about cats every day. Or maybe I should just start an Entrecat site.
Yeah I got a bunch, and attempted to redrop on a couple. It seemed most of them were on business blogs, or blogs in that category. You know it's not too different than the Ad Master who always had women, seductive women at top of her blog posts, and a woman's backside for her 125 x 125; they're just trying to get attention. I think by reposting them, they've succeeded in getting attention, getting noticed. All the sites seemed legit on the first day I noticed them. On the 2nd, several sites wouldn't open by the cards appeared in box. I did report them all to EC and assume others did as well and that's why they're gone?
I think if you're not going to use EC by buying ads, doing reciprocal drops you should delete your accounts. I personal find it really frustrating to be looking for something, doing drops, checking sites for ads to find someone really isn't active. For those of us who are active it's time consuming. So I think people should do it or don't, but don't sit on the fence. There have been waves of people leaving; but I've not run into much of it lately.
I try to balance writing new posts several times a week on all 3 blogs, drops, read and comments and life (and work); but enjoy the variety of sites I see from EC that I don't believe I would see or know about without it.

So, after leaving my comment; I tried to drop and got the invalid comment. Does that mean you've left EC?

I've taken my widget off because even though I could just stop dropping and not have to worry about and get an occasional hit from EC, the widget makes my blog look cheap. And seeing all that cleavage really convinced me of that. I'm so glad I took mine off. And my traffic has gone up since I took it off. Granted I have been using my drop time to comment on other blogs but last time I left I took a hit. This time it actually went up right away. I've also had more offers for advertising.
Hi Rachele,
I've been trying to give Entre card a chance by 'hanging in there' for a bit, but I'm slowly losing faith and not sure if I'll continue with them...
Cheers!

Interesting Jen says her traffic has gone up since leaving EC; haven't heard that before. I've read several times traffic takes an immediate and pretty substantial hit; then slower comes back; but that it takes awhile using other sources. That last time there was a huge group of folks that left ec they sorta keep track of things to see. Thought I'd post in case you're still pondering.
Puzzled too, cause I popped over to Jen's site to take a look see and see an EC widget on both blogs???
Sandy
About twenty of these babies were dropped on my cat Sara's blog. I wrote a message to each and every one of these sites stating that I do not drop back on sites that use half-porno-photos of young girls. The girls' pics have been replaced by boring but honest text-avatars. The sites themselves seem to be about a kinds of different very straight forward businesses that have nothing to do with the girls.
I also wrote to Entrecard, but no one from EC has replied.
Best wishes,
